St patrick’s chanel block

Designgroup Stapleton Elliott (DGSE), together with Dunning Thornton Engineers and MQS Quantity Surveyors were engaged to develop a concept design for the redevelopment of Chanel Block at St Patrick's College in Wellington.

It was prefered to rebuild the block in its entirety to provide the greatest amenity in the form of spatial allowances, visual presence, amenity and teaching environment.

The Chanel new build is required to be designed and constructed to meet 100% New Build Standard (NBS). The design of the new Chanel Block creates a stronger entrance, promoting the relationship between the College and community with the ‘borrowed outlook’ toward Kilbirnie Park. The design of the façade provides a strong architectural statement signaling that the College is current, innovative and progressive.

A center of excellence is provided within the Chanel Block new-build with the integrated theatre for performing arts. The remainder of space within the Chanel Block is well proportioned with provisions for a traditional library, flexible learning spaces and meeting / study rooms.
