Auranga Prayer Chapel

Located at the heart of Auranga Village Centre, the Prayer Chapel stands proud as a landmark beacon to the community. The building is a reference point both physically and symbolically. In collaboration with MADE, the vision was to create a place of contemplation, reflection, and inspiration.

Elementally, the building consists of a prayer garden and chapel, as well as a spire that acts as an emitter and receiver of light.

A ribbon of rammed earth holds the entirety of the building, with deep apertures that are carefully located to reveal the inner sanctuary. In contrast, the dynamic volume above is lightly clad in metal shingles.

Entry through the garden, where the sound of running water and the aroma of flowers prevail, create a sense of peace and calm.

The chapel is a place of contemplation and discovery, as well as beauty and wonder.
