The new two-storey block comprises 12 classrooms with breakout spaces, collaborative learning zones, and a teachers’ workspace, as well as multi-functional kitchen facilities.
The design creates a gateway, commanding a prominent position at the Devonport Road school frontage and the adjacent school field to achieve a cohesive entry point. The new block generates two new courtyard spaces, linking to the gym for large functions, the heart of the school, and street frontage. Integrated external bleachers add further functionality to new external spaces.
Brick references existing buildings within the greater campus to embody the solidity and grounding attributes of the College’s core values. Sliding glazed partitions enable classrooms to be used traditionally or collaboratively, providing options for large multi-functional spaces. Classrooms access both internal central collaborative zones and exterior space for outdoor learning, with deep covered balconies located on the upper level.
