Housing
Te Hononga Tāngata Royal Oak Housing project creates homes and a community for the vulnerable in Auckland.
Three individual buildings are arranged in a north/south orientation maximising winter solar access into living areas of all units while limiting shading of communal open spaces. Blocks are offset to further break down the building form and define points of entry.
Blocks overlook a central pedestrian street opening onto courtyards, vegetable gardens, orchards and parks for residents’ enjoyment and recreation. A central common room provides a place to gather at the heart of the development.
With stable housing and support, people can gain control over their lives, be safer and be healthier.
