Workplace + Interiors
This sophisticated workspace transformation is now home to an internationally renowned corporate. Planning achieves openness, connectivity, and collaboration to inspire those who work and train within this space. The design response achieves a deep connection with the New Zealand landscape with subtle visual references.
A layered floor in grey tones connects entry to workspace and then transforms into white 3D elements rising out of the ground, creating a focal sculptural element housing the kitchen. The design references the topography of the glaciers of the South Island and the rugged foreshore of the Wellington Harbour. Dramatic sculptural elements are juxtaposed with a softly layered timber wall.
A curved textured wall using New Zealand timbers creates a free-flowing organic edge responding to the rolling landscape of the Wellington region. Walls of various thickness are layered in patterns derived from tukutuku panels and framed with white walls, like shifting tectonic plates.
