Maraenui Housing

The Maraenui housing development is located in a predominantly residential suburb of Napier. Sites vary from grassed areas with significant existing vegetation, to other zones with existing standalone dwellings. All sites are well orientated for sun and ideal for intensive and innovative housing development adopting Kāinga Ora standardised plans for standalone, duplex, and terrace typologies across a range of sizes.

Each site has been designed with a movement spine, creating strong links between all sites. Circulation lines and spatial hierarchy create separate blocks with individual character. Arterial vehicle access is achieved via a bespoke landscaped gateway to enhance the sense of destination and place, while amenity space is designed to facilitate community engagement and provide opportunity for people to meet and interact.
