After successful completion of Rocket Lab’s Auckland facility, DGSE were re-engaged to design, in close collaboration with the Rocket Lab team, the reception zone and mission control for their new corporate headquarters in Long Beach, USA.
The mission was to create a bespoke product which showcased what Rocket Lab is all about, reflecting and supporting their mission to ‘lift human potential’ without compromise.
2001: A Space Odyssey’s cinematography was used as inspiration, with spaces creating a sense of anticipation and revelation. The portal challenged the notion of gravity by celebrating spatial fluidity where surface and embedded light in floors, walls and ceilings merge together. This fluidity is carried throughout the remainder of the interior where dramatically formed spiralling angled walls create held spaces for occupants to dwell, creating a real ‘wow’ factor for visitors entering the facility.
